What is Yoga?
By definition, Yoga means "unity" or "to join." It also implies discipline or effort. Yoga is about using discipline and effort toward the goal of unifying the body, mind, and spirit. The whole system of yoga is based on three main structures: physical postures, breathing, and meditation. The yoga postures are designed to put pressure on the glandular systems of the body, therefore, increasing the body's efficiency and total health. Throughout the practice of yoga the muscles are alternately stretched and contracted, and spaces are made in the joints of the body to increase elasticity and range of motion. Breathing techniques are based on the concept that the breath is the source of life in the body. The yoga student gently increases breath control to improve the overall health and proper functioning of both the body and mind. Both yoga postures and breathing techniques prepare the body and the mind for meditation, therefore the yoga student finds an outlet to a quiet mind, which allows healing from everyday stress.
Benefits of a Regular Yoga Practice
There is no practice like yoga for integrating the body, mind and spirit in unity. Some of the proven benefits of a regular yoga practice include: reduced stress and blood pressure, strengthened muscles, improved posture, reduces risk of injury through improved balance and coordination, healthier immune system and organ function, improved concentration, and increased flexibility and range of motion. Also, medical studies have shown that yoga can provide significant improvement for certain medical conditions such as anxiety, depression, asthma, diabetes, arthritis, carpel tunnel syndrome, and hypertension.

Christ-Centered Yoga (All Levels) - A Christ-Centered Yoga Class with Danielle is an intentional Christ-centered yoga practice of connecting our entire being; body, mind and spirit with God; the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. With complete reliance on God's word and prayer, Christ-Centered Yoga invites us to surrender and introduces us to Grace. When we breathe and move and have our being in Christ, we find ourselves in the flow of His magnificence. There is often a misunderstanding that yoga is a religion, it is not. Yoga is a physical discipline much like running, gymnastics, dance, football, and many other sports.
Christ-Centered Yoga has the capacity to enhance one's personal Christian beliefs and faith through applying God's word with bodily exercise. In Christ-Centered Yoga, we pursue unity of the body, mind and His Holy Spirit that dwells within us, with the intention of worshiping and serving the Lord with our entire beings. Prenatal Yoga (All Levels) - Prenatal Yoga is one of the best gifts you can give yourself and your developing baby. Preparing your body for labor and motherhood is the goal of Prenatal Yoga. Using the breathing techniques associated with yoga can help you in the labor and delivery process. Many yoga postures that are focused on opening up the hips or pelvic floor muscles, will help prepare for natural childbirth and may help ease labor and delivery by increasing strength, flexibility and endurance of the muscles needed for childbirth. During pregnancy, the body produces the hormone relaxin, which softens the connective tissue. Yoga postures can help to stabilize and strengthen the sacroiliac joints and promote flexibility in the muscles and fascia. Breathing is the most essential part of Prenatal Yoga, however, it is important to avoid any kind of breath retention, which can limit the baby's oxygen supply. As correct breathing nurtures the circulatory, cardiovascular, endocrine, digestive, and nervous system, sleep becomes more sound and stress and anxiety are reduced.
