Australian born oil painter Danielle Masters creates layered, symbolic paintings that explore fungi, consciousness, and the hidden relationships that connect the living world. Now based in Western Massachusetts and working internationally, her practice invites closer observation, revealing connections between the visible and unseen.
Self taught and shaped by years of travel, close observation, and creative exploration, the work has developed through a lifelong curiosity about ecology, symbolism, and the psyche. Experiences living and working across Australia, Southeast Asia, and the United States continue to inform this perspective, while a life devoted to personal growth, creativity, and a deeper relationship with the natural world remains inseparable from the paintings created.
Working primarily in oil, each painting is built slowly, layer by layer, through a process of intention, intuition, and discovery. Using the Mische technique alongside more opaque passages of color, translucent layers accumulate to create depth, luminosity, and intricate detail. The work is held in private collections internationally, with each body of work reflecting an ongoing dialogue between the seen and unseen forces that shape our world.
